The Grey Compound is used with the Sisal Mop in the first honing stage for knives. You need to have an edge, this makes the edge sharper by removing soft molecules. Use this daily on your rasps, using just a few strokes you can extend your rasps' lives by 4 times!
The White Compound is used with the Colored Cloth Mop in the second honing stage of knife sharpening. Once your knife is sharp, this may be all it needs to keep its edge.
The Green Compound is used with the Calico Mop for the final stage in the polishing process to give a mirror finish to your tools or a razor sharp edge to your knives.
