Bloom Forge Stud Set

$44.75

Bloom Forge Stud Sets are tools designed for driving in FootPro solid carbide studs. The “C11” and “C13” refer to different sizes / types of carbide studs that are commonly used in horseshoes to provide traction.
According to the manufacturer, the stud set shaft is made of H-13 tool steel, which gives it good strength and durability.
Also, the shafts are groove-pattern marked, making it easy to distinguish between the C11 and the C13 tool while on the job.

Differences Between C11 and C13

Here are some of the key differences (and similarities) that matter in practical use:

Feature C11 Stud Set C13 Stud Set
Compatibility Fits the head of a FootPro C11 carbide stud.  Fits the head of a FootPro C13 carbide stud.
Shaft Marking / Groove Pattern Has a specific groove-pattern different from C13, so you can visually identify which tool it is.  Also has its own groove pattern, distinct from the C11, for quick visual identification.
Material Made of H-13 tool steel.  Also H-13 tool steel.
Function / Use Used to drive in the smaller (or different-spec) C11 carbide studs. Used to drive in the C13 carbide studs, which may be slightly different in size or shape (C13 is equivalent to P-13 according to FootPro).

Pros & Strengths

Common Strengths (for both):

  1. Durable Construction: Using H-13 tool steel means these stud sets are built to withstand repeated hammering and tough job-site conditions.

  2. Safety & Precision: Because they’re “form-fit” to the stud heads, you get a secure and accurate fit when installing studs, which reduces the risk of damaging the stud or the tool.

  3. Easy Identification: The different groove patterns make it quick to pick the right tool under time pressure — very helpful when you’re working on multiple horses or switching stud sizes.

  4. Proven Design: Bloom Forge is well-known in the farrier world, and their tools are trusted by many professionals.

Specific to C13:

  • Because C13 studs are more “heavy duty” (often used for more aggressive traction), the C13 stud set is ideal if you frequently work with horses that need higher grip (e.g., in slippery or rocky terrain).

  • The tight form-fit ensures the larger or more robust stud head is driven in securely without slipping.

Specific to C11:

  • Useful for more standard traction applications where C11 studs are sufficient.

  • Slightly lighter or more precise tool for those who prefer working with smaller studs or less aggressive traction.
